Hello to all my family and friends. I’m hoping everyone is in good health and spirits.

Well did January just fly by or what? Here it is Groundhogs Day and no matter if he sees or doesn’t see his shadow, we will get whatever Mother Nature gives us. I so want to get in my garden, but afraid it might be too early. The weather is supposed to be warmer and wetter than usual.

Actually, we’ve had more inches of rain than snow this year. I wonder what causes that? Oh! The Groundhog, Buckeye Chuck, did not see his shadow so it means an early spring!

In a few months, darts will end its winter season as well as bowling leagues too. We haven’t won many games this year, but we have had a lot of fun. We will be at Bosco’s this week, so come and cheer us on!

I have been under the weather for the last couple of weeks with a mixture of a cold, sinuses, and a virus. But I’m hanging in there.

I am sorry to say I missed our Miss Southbend 2020 Pageant Last Saturday when Sabrina Caprice Heartt stepped down and crowned Ava Aurora Fox as our Reigning Miss Southbend and first alternate Gia. Congratulations to the both of you. It was very close scoring. Only 6 points separated them. Thanks to Stella who emceed for me and G and Roxi who helped with registration and of course our wonderful judges and entertainers.

Sunday, February 23rd at 6 pm will be our Miss Southbend Classic Pageant when Joey Wynters will step down and crown our winner. The theme this year is “Diamonds are Forever”. Miss Wynters is looking for glamour and sparkle.

Every year, before crowning Miss Southbend, an award is presented to someone who does a lot for our community and needs to be recognized. The Triva (The Diva) Perry Award was given to Roger Redmon.

Join Roger every Wednesday for the “Bear Happy Hour”. On Feb 12th, there will be a fundraiser for BRAVO. So join Roger, the bears, and Bravo! Lots of fun, love, and food! I am making beef stroganoff and there will be a soup off so bring in your favorite homemade soup to compete for prizes and help raise money for Bravo. Check out the website front page for details about the event.

Speaking of food…Let’s Get Cooking with Connie on Saturday, February 15th is Your Favorite Valentine Dessert. All entries in by 2:30, judging at 3 pm. The top three winners get prizes. Submit your recipes for our cookbook and let’s have fun.

Congratulations to G, Miss Comic 2019 who helped raise $1,500 for COMIC who’s charities this year are Kaleidoscope and The Nina West Foundation. G will be crowning a new Miss Comic on Saturday, March 14th, at AWOL. The pageant was a lot of fun last year. I’ll miss it this year because I will be in New Orleans with my sister Karen. There’s going to be a wedding! I can’t wait. I’ve never been to New Orleans. I want to try different foods!

I also want to take this moment to wish all my family and friends a Happy Valentines Day!

Thanks again to everyone who donated coats, clothing, etc. for Let’s Do It Ministries, a community outreach center for our homeless. Thanks for the donations, support, and love.

This Saturday, February 8th, our monthly Birthday Karaoke at 5 pm - 9 pm with Jonathon and Larry will be entertaining you. So loosen up those windpipes, lubricate your throat and belt a song or two. It’s always a great time. Since it’s so close to Valentine’s Day you may want to hear or sing your favorite love songs!

Do you like chocolate-covered cherries? Well, come in on Thursday and try my cherry cordial blender drink or grasshopper or any of personal blender mixtures. Or bring your own recipe!

I want to take a special moment to keep in my thoughts Ed, he lost his mother, and Brad who lost Bill. My prayers are with you both and your families.

I will close for now leaving you with this one last thought: Valentine’s Day isn’t only for lovers. Remember love is love, spread it around.

Take care of yourselves and each other.

Love,

Connie
