Hello to all my family and friends. I’m hoping everyone is in good health and spirits.

Last Saturday, I was pulling a few weeds in my garden and noticing little sprouts of daffodils and day lillies popping up from the ground. Poppies, ornamental grasses, and lambs ear are greening up as well as some of my rose bushes. Even my autumn seedum is leafing out at the bottom and I haven’t even cut it back yet. Oh! And my hyacinths are popping up and I killed a wasp in my kitchen. Well, what a difference a week makes. I know my lilac will survive and most plants will too. I just can’t wait to see what winter will be like now. I still believe in a few years I will be able to grow palm trees and maybe some tropical flowers like bird of paradise or ginger or maybe even protea. Who knows?

Thanks to Al, I have most of my spring cleaning done. Now it’s time for Southbend’s Spring cleaning. Carla and I will start on Tuesday vacuuming walls, vents, etc. Freshen up some paint. Washing walls and furniture, etc. I love spring cleaning especially when you find things you forgot you even had. And by the time we finish the inside, it’ll be time to plant our flowers and freshen it up on the outside for the new season.

FYI…Sunday, March 25th is our annual spaghetti dinner at St. Ladislas. I know a lot of you go every year and enjoy it. And I thank you for that. All the money we make on the dinner goes right back into our church (mainly for repairs and maintenance). The meatballs and sauce are my grandmother’s recipe. I remember going as a child in the 60s and it was almost like a family reunion. And today I get to see some family and a lot of our church members that I do not see often. I enjoy hosting that day and get to see everyone.

That’s why I’m enjoying darts again. We go to different bars to play, and I see people and friends that I usually don’t get to see. Plus my teammates are a lot of fun to be with too. Even though we have only won one game we have enough team spirit for the whole league. We were at Slammers last week and they have GREAT FOOD! This coming week we are at AWOL, and the following week we will be at Tool Box.

Speaking of Tool Box, My sister Karen is back full time bartending there. So Stop by and see her on Tues., Wed., Thurs., and Sat. From 4-8 pm.

And remember on Thursdays we have blender drinks from noon to 6 pm. Not all are made with ice cream or alcohol. Joey says I make a mean “Not Your Mama’s Chocolate Milkshake Shake Shots.” So join us. I’m behind the bar on Mon., Thur., and Fri. Once a month on Friday we have Al’s Comedy Show! The next show will be Feb., 21st. So join Al, Nathan and guests and myself for a real slap stick, hee haw Friday Evening.

Since February is near, we will be selling our lace doily hearts for $1.00 each for the whole month of February. We pin everyone of them to a wall. On Sat., Feb. 29th, at 3 pm we will take them down, put them in a large garbage bag, mix em-up and pull a winner. (You do not need to be present to win). Only one winner, who will receive half of the money and the other half goes to charity which is chosen by the winner. This will be our 12th year doing this. Last year was our best year ever! So. As always, thank you for your love and support.

Next Sunday, the 26th, at 6 pm join us and Miss Southbend 2019, Sabrina Caprice Heartt as she crowns a new Ms. Southbend. Yes, pageant Season has started. There is always such great entertainment, costumes, gowns, tuxes, and don’t forget all the jewels and jewelry for both guys and gals. Every year I announce who receives the Triva (the Diva) Perry Award. I even get to dress up as I emcee the pageant.

Sunday night was the Miss Gay Ohio Paramount Pageant. G and Jamie are the promoters. Soy Queen is Miss Gay Ohio Paramont 2019 who crowned Stacy Z Candy and 1st Alternate Sheridan Steele. Both will be able to vie for Miss Gay Ohio America. We wish both of you a great year.

Let’s Get Cooking with Connie in January was your favorite winter soup. 1st place was Dan and Paul’s Beef Stew, 2nd place was Al’s Potato Soup, and there was a tie for 3rd place with Erika’s Bacon Cheddar Potato Soup and Bill’s Vegetable Soup. They were all DELICIOUS! February 15th is our next Cook off with your favorite valentine dessert. So have fun and enjoy.

Sunday, I fixed dinner for our staff. A Southbend Family once a year at my home. This year I fixed G’s favorite. We had prime rib, salad, red skin roasted potatoes, mixed vegetables, croissants and desserts. It’s the only time we can spend time together without working.

Join Roger for his Bear Happy Hour on Wed., Feb. 12th for their first charity event of year. “For the Love of Bravo” with Bravo as the Charity. Bachelor and Bachelorette auction, shot boy, food and 2nd annual soup off. Plus Stella and her fellas. So join Roger and the bears for fun, love, entertainment, and charity.

Wednesday, the 22nd is the last day we are collecting coats, gloves, shoes, clothes, etc. for Let’s Do It Ministries. Thanks to everyone again for your support and caring.

I will close for now leaving you with this one last thought. Reunions are wonderful of all kinds whether its with family, friends, or extended family. Cherish the moments.

Take care of yourselves and each other.

Love,

Connie
