Hello to all my family and friends. I hope everyone is in good health and spirits.
Are we getting an early winter this year or what? I’m still waiting for our Indian summer. The colors of the trees are so beautiful now. But I’m never ready for the snow.
Our dart team played at AWOL last week. It was so nice to see people I never see. Heath is always charming as usual. We won 4 out of 7 games. The bar looks fabulous! What a change from twenty years ago. This coming week will be at Tremont.
Thanks for all the love and support you gave for the COMIC benefit. “G” and the Stella and the cast raised over $1000! Thanks again.
This Wednesday, November 13th, is Roger’s Bear Happy Hour. It’s a fundraiser for Canine Collective. There will be silent and live auctions, 50-50 raffle, Food, Fun, Love, and Stella and the boyz. Please join Roger, Gerry, Terry, and myself for a fun-filled evening.
Last Thursday I started making our fall eggnog blender drinks! So join me on Thursday as well as Friday and Mondays.
This Friday is Al’s, Comedy Show! So join us and Al’s cast of characters as we laugh the night away.
Our Miss Southbend Pageant packets are in. The theme Sabrina Heartt has chosen is “Among the Galaxy”. The pageant will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020, at 6 pm.
WOW, how about the Ohio State Buckeyes! Another great win! OH-IO!
Remember to join us for a special celebration on November 30th Saturday for the OSU - Michigan game and a special tribute to our friend Jesse Warnock as we go down memory lane with our thoughts, pictures, and special moments. And it’s also our 8th annual Chili Cookoff Competition! “G” started this competition 8 years ago and we get many styles of chili.
I just received a phone call from Jesse’s mom, Roma. She wants to thank everyone for their love, prayers, and cards. Also, she wanted to thank us for having a memorial for Jesse. She will not be here. She is having a hard time dealing with the loss of her son, Jesse.
Please keep in your thoughts and prayers Jason Lutz. He was hospitalized with an aneurysm and not doing well. He is no longer on life support.
Before I forget, I want to personally thank all those veterans who serve and have served our country. To all the men and women who served in any way should be saluted and honored.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner. This will be my 14th Thanksgiving Dinner Potluck. How the years go by so fast. So please join us. We open at noon and food is served at 2 pm until it’s gone! Our doors are open to ALL!!
This year will be my first year to hang lights outside. I’m really excited about it. I’ve been living in my home for 21 years this January. I’ve hung wreaths on the doors and front windows. So, If I only get to hang greenery and lights around the porch and decorate the porch I’ll be satisfied. Especially because all my Christmas wreaths have been totally redone mostly by Al. And thanks for the donations of a lot of the ornaments and such were given to me from Jeff York and Big Al.
Sometimes when you’re at a yard sale, estate sale, thrift stores or those of us who just need to unload clutter we no longer need. Isn’t it fun to rummage around to see that extra special thing you must have? Sometimes it might be something that reminds you of your childhood or maybe it was a piece of china of your grandmothers or maybe you just want it for yourself.
Most of my wardrobe is hand me down, thrift stores and bargain stores. I cherish the hand me downs from aunts Nina and Maudie my Leora but most of all the hand me downs are from my mother and grandmother. When I was in Sandusky, Ohio this past summer, with 3 of my cousins, we stopped in every thrift and vintage store downtown. We had a great time. Of course, yes, we all bought stuff! I think of it as another hobby. I used to love to go to the flea market on S. High at the only drive-in theater left in Columbus. Great bargains to find or to collect or even pieces to decorate your house or gardens with.
I know some people hate to shop! So do I, I hate that you have to go to the grocery, drug store, etc. I hate it too. But thrifting is a fun hobby. Because I don’t really need it! I just want it! So, when I die somebody, can have a rummage sale! Ha! Ha!
Before I leave you with this one last thought “G” shared this with me and now I’m sharing it with you. “I can’t wait to go to bed tonight and lay awake worrying about shit I can’t control”.
Take care of yourselves and each other.
Love,
Connie
